IF: Climbing

Shortly, someone is hoping to climb back into bed. I could have added the "ing" but this sounded better. This is a sketch I did previously and very quickly painted. I don't have little ones anymore but, boy, do I still feel like this a lot of times!

Doodle A Day: Finished Chester Painting

Chester's done and ready for a frame. I'm off to the store to find one.

Doodle A Day: More Chester

I need to get this one done so Chester's going to double as Doodle A Day, for the next couple of days probably. Hope that's acceptable. Here's the picture I sketched from. I laid down the first layer of washes on Chester, the couch and the wall. How's he coming along?

Doodle A Day: Chester

This is the sketch for a painting I am doing for a friend. It's based on a photograph. The little kitty is Chester, who sadly passed away a few months ago. I love the kitty's smallness compared to the large window.

Doodle A Day:Dragon

As much as Gertrude loved pillaging and terrorizing the local village, she really was all smoke. The thought of ever actually eating one of those things made her scales grow pale. She had heard they tasted like chicken, but she wasn't taking any chances.

The idea behind this sketch is IF's topic this week: pale. I'm having a bit of a difficult time coming up with an idea and I am not sure if I'll take this one all the way and post it on IF. I don't usually draw dragons and it seems a bit ambitious to get it done (well) before the end of tomorrow. We"ll see...I may just end up posting the sketch.

Doodle A Day: Under The Weather

Poor Kitty, he's feeling a bit under the weather. Well, at least he has all of the essentials: comfy bed, good books, a thermometer, OJ with a straw...oops! Where's the chicken soup?

Doodle A Day:Thurston

Thurston Wilhelm Catnip, III was quite please with himself after the Uppercrust Cat Society meeting. Quite pleased, indeed.

Doodle A Day: Cream and Sugar?

Someone get him a double caffeinated something. He's not going to make it much longer.

Doodle A Day: Mean Fox

Here's today's. I wish I could get them up earlier but evening is when I am able to work on it most days. But that's ok...as long as it's getting done.

And Big Mean Foxes should not steal cookies from Sweet Little Foxes. How rude!

IF: Contained

Double duty: This one is for this week's IF and is my painted doodle. Not sure if I'll be able to get up an additional Doodle of the Day. The little guy on the left is quite contained. Not so much on the right.

On another note, I absolutely love watercolors and am trying to improve my abilities. I get frustrated with myself because I so badly want to paint beautifully. Does it just take practice? Any good tips/resources? Please tell me there's hope!

Doodle A Day: Brrrrrr!

It's cold here in North Georgia. Had to scrape the ice off of my car at 10:30 am. You'd think it would've melted by then.

Doodle A Day

My thoughts behind today's doodle is this week's IF topic:contained. Kids on school picture day look so contained in the mornings. You just hope the picture is scheduled before the progressive unraveling of a dressed up child. I may finish this one for Friday. Not sure yet.

Doodle A Day:Father Bear

It seems every now and then my body says "enough." And, without my permission even, it takes a do-nothing day. So I guess today my bathrobed laziness inspired this guy. He's been a bit lazy, too. And he's reaching for another piece of cake from the fridge.

A Doodle A Day: Grandpa and Me

I think Grandpa's head is a bit too big...but I like the interaction between the two.

Participate in "A Doodle A Day"

A Doodle a Day sounds like it's just what I need to start the year off working towards accomplishing those resolutions. Thanks to Jessie Lilac for commenting on my latest IF post! In addition to leaving a really sweet message I found out about Alicia Padron's "A Doodle A Day" by checking out Jessie's blog. Click on the picture on the sidebar to find out more. And as far as pickles jars go...do they really need to be so difficult to get open? On guard!

IF: Resolve

In 2009 I resolve to 1) Spend time at my desk experimenting, learning, and not be afraid of messing things up (they're JUST paintings!) 2)Build my site using my Mac 3) Create 10 great pieces for my portfolio and experiment with concepts for licensing 4) Draw everyday 5)Purchase and learn Photoshop-I'm embarassed I don't already know this. 5) Buy a few books on my Amazon wishlist-I could read about illustration 24 hours a day. If only I had that kind of time...

What are your resolutions?
