Why didn't I think of that?

Clay. Of course! When I asked how to figure out drawings for different poses, etc. clay was suggested. Making a character in 3D brings it to life even more. And it allows for seeing different positioning and for seeing how a light source would hit in real life, rather than just in my imagination. Not to mention, it's tons of fun:)

So I spent part of the day sculpting Max The Guinea Pig. Do you see a resemblance? I haven't done this before and have a long way to go with him, but I think he's off to a good start. He needs clothes, feet and color...and cooking. He's made of Super Sculpey, with tin foil innards. I think the legs with his teeny feet will be the most challenging. I'm taking pictures of him in stages. I want to post a slide show to show his process when I'm done. So stay tuned!

That is super cute! I love how he looks like your illustration. I used to do a lot of things with sculpy--now I'm feeling inspired to dig it out again. :)

Thanks:) And yay! Glad he resembles the illustration. Clay is so fun, you should get yours back out and see what you come up with!

Great job! He really looks like your illustration! Sculpy is so great to work with! I do plasticine dimensional illustration and also sometimes do a 3D model for faces as well, so I can maintain character continuity. It will be neat to see your "process" posts too. :)
